Created to help you navigate and utilize our platform with ease.

Accessing the Portal

To begin

  1. Open your preferred browser (Google Chrome, Edge, Safari).
  2. Visit the URL: opendata.gov.om/en
  3. The homepage displays an intuitive layout with the main navigation bar at the top, including links to Datasets, Publishers, Community, About, and User Guide.

Note: You can browse public data without an account, but to request datasets or submit use cases, login is required.

How to Login

Follow these steps to log into the NODP portal:

  1. Click Login at the top-right of the homepage.
  2. login
  3. Enter your registered Email and Password, then click Login.

  5. Once authenticated, you’ll see your profile name appear in the top-right corner, giving access to personal features such as bookmarks, requests, and logout.

How to Sign Up

If you are a new user:

  1. Click Login on the top menu.
  2. On the login window, click Sign Up.

  4. Fill in the form:
    • Full Name
    • Email
    • Password
    • Confirm Password
    Then check I’m not a robot (CAPTCHA) and click Sign Up to register.

  6. Check your email for a verification link and confirm your account before logging in.

Homepage Overview

After login, the homepage serves as your starting point.

It features:

  • Top Navigation Bar with links to Datasets, Publishers, Community, About, and User Guide.
  • Search Bar to quickly find datasets by keyword.
  • Language Selector (English/Arabic toggle).
  • Profile Menu with options for bookmarks, requests, and logout.

Explore Datasets

Datasets Section

The Datasets section is the core of the portal. It allows you to search, filter, view, and download open datasets published by various government entities. Click Datasets on the top navigation bar.

* Search for Datasets

  • Use the Search Bar to type relevant keywords (e.g., health, education, housing).
  • Matching datasets will appear in real time below.

Note: The search is keyword-sensitive and retrieves titles, descriptions, and tags.

* Apply Filters

The left-hand filter panel enables refined searching. You can narrow datasets by:

  • Publisher (e.g., Ministry of Health)
  • Dataset Theme (e.g., Environment, Economy)
  • File Format (CSV, XLSX, JSON)
  • Tags (custom dataset labels)

To apply a filter:

  1. Open Datasets.
  2. Tick the checkboxes next to the desired filters.
  3. Results update automatically.

* View Dataset Details

Click on a dataset title to open its details page. Here you’ll find:

  • Dataset Overview: Description, Publisher, Last Updated
  • Available Files: List of files included
  • Version History: Access older versions
  • Download Buttons: For each file or the entire dataset

* Download Dataset Files

There are two ways to download:

  1. Download All – Click the top button to download the entire dataset bundle.
  2. Download Individually – Click Download beside each file to get specific items.

You can also view previous versions by clicking Versions under each file.

Explore Publishers

Publishers Section

The Publishers section lists all contributing organizations.

To access:

  1. Click Publishers on the top navigation bar.
  2. Browse the list of publishers displayed as cards, each showing the organization name, logo, and number of datasets.
  3. Click on a publisher’s card to view its datasets.

On the publisher’s page, you’ll see:

  • Publisher Information
  • List of Datasets published by that entity

Request a dataset

Dataset Requests

If the data you need isn’t available, you can request it through the Dataset Requests section.

* Submit a New Request

  1. From the navigation bar, go to Dataset Requests.
  2. Click New Request.

  4. Fill in the request form:
    • Dataset Title
    • Dataset Theme
    • Source
    • Tags
    • Description
  5. Complete the CAPTCHA verification.
  6. Click Submit Request.

Your request will be sent to the data administrators for review and approval.

* View Requests List

All submitted requests appear under Dataset Requests → My Requests. Here, you can monitor progress and check statuses such as Pending, In Progress, or Completed.

Community Section

Community Section

The Community section connects users with updates, events, and collaborative opportunities. It includes five main parts: News, Surveys, Events, and Use Cases.

  1. Navigate to Community → Use Cases.
  2. Click Submit Use Case.

System Commands

Sort ByAllows users to sort search results by fields such as date, title (ascending or descending), and relevance.
Download AllDownloads all files within a specified dataset.

VersionView all versions associated with a particular file.
ViewView the raw data directly within the portal.
ExportDownload the visualizations created in the portal.
BookmarkSave datasets to the bookmarked section to check again later.
SubscribeReceive notifications whenever a dataset is updated.
New CommentAdd a new comment to a dataset (available for registered users).
Submit RequestSend a request for a new dataset.
Submit Use CaseSubmit a request to publish a use case created using a dataset.
Arabic/English IconSwitch the portal language between Arabic and English.

Common System Messages

Message TypeDescription
SuccessYour rating, comment, or request has been successfully processed.
Minimum of at least 20 CharactersYour input must contain at least 20 characters.
Invalid Username/PasswordThe entered username or password is incorrect or does not meet requirements.
Input Dataset TitleThe title field is required and cannot be left blank.
Input Dataset ThemeThe theme field is required and cannot be left blank.
Input Dataset DescriptionThe description field is required and cannot be left blank.
ApprovedYour request has been approved and published on the portal.
RejectedYour request has been rejected by the admin.
PendingYour request is still under review.
